Time flies!! 2016-2017 CABA has hosted several big events since the beginning of October. The event held on 10th June became the final cultural event, Japanese Sake tasting night. This consisted of two parts: the first section was the lecture by a guest speaker and the second section was Japanese Sake tasting time.
The lecture was provided by Rie Yoshitake, who is the leading Sake ambassador in the UK, where she represents the Sake Samurai Association (SSA) and the Japan Sake and Shochu Maker’s Association (JSSA). The lecture covered wide varieties of topics related to Sake, not only from the definitions of different kinds of Sake such as Daiginjo but also from cultural aspects and the process of production of Japanese Sake. Figurative data with graphs and charts encouraged us, as the students in Judge Business school, to understand real situation of Japanese Sake. This section allowed even Japanese students to gain deep understanding.
The tasting time was launched with sparkling Sake followed by Urakasumi, one of the Junmai Ginjo. Then we enjoyed Futsushu Ginjo, Jnmai Ginjo and Junmai Daiginjo. Making a toast with “Kanpai” and poring sake with each other, we demonstrated what we learned in the lecture. According to one of the participants, this night became one of the most interesting nights in Cambridge. The participants were able to understand and experience the Japanese sake culture.
The final event became successfully as awesome as the usual CABA events. Thank you for all those who are involved with 2016-2017 CABA. Our committees wish you all the best!!
